Security begins at the factory gate
- New Perimeter Protection exhibition in Nürnberg
- Bavarian Minister of the Interior Herrmann assumes patronage
- European association EPPA supports the congress
Whether commercial, public or private properties, the security of outdoor sites is an important issue which now has its own separate exhibition. Perimeter Protection in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 21–23 April 2010 focuses on integrated property security, i.e. the combination of mechanical and electronic security components. The exhibitors include companies like Betafence, Adronit or AASSETT Security. The patron of the event is Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann. A congress supported by the European Perimeter Protection Association (EPPA) takes place parallel to the exhibition.
“The security of companies, public and private facilities and buildings begins at the gate with the classic mechanical components for entry and exit like gates, doors, barriers, turnstiles or bollards,” explains Friedrich Klopotek, Managing Director of the exhibition’s honorary sponsor, the Fachverband Metallzauntechnik and RAL -Gütegemeinschaft Metallzauntechnik e.V., Ratingen. “The use of a combined protection measure that contains electronic security components like fence alarm and detection systems, line sensors or video equipment as well as mechanical devices decisively reduces the probability of disturbance and encroachment (for example, theft, burglary, vandalism and attack),” Klopotek continues.
EPPA briefs on EU standards at the congress
The interaction of mechanical and electronic components is reflected at the accompanying congress, which also discusses current trends, specific requirements for planning and products for outdoor site protection and building security. The congress is divided into three blocks: EU Standards, Applications and Procedures. The European Perimeter Protection Association provides information on the current state of the EU standards project and its impacts. The lectures on “Applications” deal with issues such as the security of a pharmaceutical company, a major airport or an energy utility, and the lectures in the “Procedures” block deal with topics like biometry, automatic vehicle identification or the prospects of outdoor site protection for the fencing industry.
